Jared Colson
Years of Service: Since 2008
Hometown and Years in Teton Valley: Stanley, Idaho; Moved to Teton Valley in 2006
Personal Details (family and hobbies): Married with 2 kids. When not at work, I enjoy traveling with my family. I’m a sports nut and have a diverse collection of favorite teams I follow.
Why did you want to become a firefighter?: This sounds cliché, but I became a firefighter to help people. I moved to Teton County for a job in a completely different line of work. After being in the valley for a couple of years, the opportunity came up to take the Fire I class and become a paid-call firefighter. I’ve been hooked ever since. That Fire I class turned into Fire II, then EMT, then Driver/Operator, all the way up to Paramedic. I love this job because we never stop learning. There is always room to grow and improve. This job will push you to your limits, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. And when you hit those limits, you can always count on one of your brothers or sisters to get you through.
